Finally Google allowed OpenSearch and setting your own search engine on Android Chrome.
Set mine to DuckDuckGo immediately when I saw that, now I can search on any engine with a bang.

Hmmm, I never really used anything other than google, except for early internet days, I was using Altavista and Ask Jeeves back then, ha! Anyway, what makes others better?

Because once you set it as the default, you can access almost every other with a code: https://duckduckgo.com/bang
And it’s not limited to search engines, for example, if you enter a tracking number and add !ups, it’ll search UPS tracking for you directly.

But when I google a tracking number google pulls up a link to the UPS page for me as well, probably takes about as long as typing !ups?

Yeah but you have to wait for the Google page, works better IMO if I know where I’m going than to click a Google link after it loads.
Another example: if I want a price history for an Amazon item, add !camel in front of the link, takes me straight to that item on CamelCamelCamel.

DuckDuckGo doesn’t collect information about you. It’s a phenomenal search engine, but first gained traction amongst people looking for privacy.
